Majority of residents in the UAE live in rented apartments or homes, which are typically insured by the landlord. What most of us are not aware of however is that the contents of our home are not insured by the landlord’s insurance.

Our Home Tenant’s All Risk Insurance covers you for damage or loss of your belongings, all at a very affordable price – whether you are in the comfort of your home or have stepped out. Cover for Contents in your Home:

The Basic Insurance cover starts at AED 200 and provides cover for all your contents including household goods and personal effects (including Personal Money up to AED 2,500) belonging to you (or for which you are legally responsible) or to resident Domestic Helpers whilst within your Home, including fixtures and fittings belonging to you (or for which you are responsible) not being landlord’s fixtures and fittings and interior decorations.

Inclusions:

This policy covers for damage due to fire, explosion, lightning, earthquake, smoke*, storm* or flood,* water escaping accidentally from pipes/equipment or fixed heating systems/water tanks, loss of contents due to attempted burglary/theft (when someone breaks in or breaks out of your house through doors/windows)*, provided your doors were locked during the attempt, falling trees or branches, lamp posts or telegraph poles.

We acknowledge that every individual has different priorities. That is why we offer a wide range of covers to include options so that you can get the right cover to suit your need. By paying a small fee, you can extend your Basic Insurance to cover:

Cover for Domestic Helpers:

We will pay the sum(s) shown below in the event that a Domestic Helper employed by you and named in the Schedule sustains accidental Bodily Injury during the Period of Insurance

  • Death or Permanent Total Disablement
    AED 30,000
  • Medical Expenses
    AED 10,000
  • Repatriation Expenses
    AED 5,000

Repatriation Expenses include expenses necessarily and reasonably incurred for funeral expenses and/or in transporting the insured Domestic Helper back to his/her normal country of residence in the event of his/her death or permanent total disablement following an accidental Bodily Injury.

Cover for Replacing Locks:

If keys to the locks of the external doors of your home or the alarm systems or domestic safes fitted in your home are accidentally lost or stolen, we will pay the cost of replacing locks or lock mechanisms up to AED 1,000.

Cover for Cost of Alternative accommodation:

If your home becomes uninhabitable due to fire/flood/ explosion, we will compensate a maximum of 20% of Personal Contents Sum Insured for expenses incurred for alternate accommodation during the reinstatement of your damaged house.

Cover for Visitor’s Personal Effects:

We will pay up to an amount of AED 2,500 in total for loss or damage to your visitor’s Personal Belongings by any of the causes listed under inclusions (other than cash, currency, Valuables, documents).

Cover for Occupiers Personal & Employers Liability:

We will cover your legal liability to pay damages and claimants costs and expenses in respect of

  • accidental Bodily Injury to any person including your Domestic Helper(s)
  • accidental loss of or damage to material property

Our liability for damage claimant’s costs and defense costs and expenses resulting from one original cause shall not exceed AED 2,000,000.

Cover for Tenant’s Liability:

We will provide cover up to AED 100,000 if you are legally responsible as a tenant for loss of or damage to the rented apartment/home and landlord’s fixtures and fittings by any of the causes as listed under inclusions.

Cover for Prams & Wheelchairs:

We will pay up to AED 1,000 if a pram or wheelchair is stolen or damaged anywhere in the world. Accessories are only covered if they are stolen with your pram or wheelchair.

If you accidentally damage your 42 inch LED TV, we will cover the cost of repairing or replacing your damaged TV at your address. Please refer to the Policy wordings to know more.

Fatal Injury Benefit:

We will pay a sum of AED 50,000 if you and/or your spouse die as a direct result of an injury caused in the home by fire, explosion, lightning or intruders provided death ensues within three months of such injury.
